On the outskirts of Buchanan city in Grand Bassa County lies the Kpaney Town community. This newly established community with a population of about 3,800 people was faced with serious water problems like many other communities in the area, where cash crops are grown and commercial activities are the major sources of livelihood. Kpaney Town-Community Quarter #1. The people in this community are mostly women and children. They had to fetch water from open hand dug wells, a source that exposed them to sicknesses such as malaria, diarrhea running stomach, skin diseases etc. These open hand dug wells breed mosquitoes and other insects and bacteria that are very harmful. On April 11,2018 the Health and Hygiene Workshop was conducted having 30 people participating. The arrival of the Health & Hygiene team to this community was highly greeted with a joyful welcome and praise to God for the education provided by the L-Linc team. It was an amazing moment for the locals when the L-Linc drilling team entered the community to bring the long awaited answer to prayer for safe drinking water. " Thanks God we will no longer suffer for water", said one elderly lady who greeted the drilling team with a hand shake. This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
