A message from the community

Dear Lifewater & Sponsor,

We the people of Lolia Town, say many thanks to you and your partners for giving us safe water for drinking through the new hand pump.

Thank you,

Mr. Tokpa

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Lolia Town is located along Hande Main highway, just a few minutes drive before getting to Sumo Town, Fumah District, Lower Bong County. The town is very large and quite populated. To date their source of drinking water has been the river and creek as well as a few open dug wells.

The dwellers of this community are living very careless lives. Because of their bush activities, while they have to leave home at such an early hour and return very late in the day, their children are not well taken care of. They normally fetch water very early in the morning and place it outside in open tubs or drums. Animals will drink from these as well as the children. The result has been that the children all complain of running stomach and pains, vomiting and so on.

On July 25, 2017 a Health & Hygiene Workshop was conducted for the people of this community with 32 participants who will help educate others within the community. Some of the training included in the workshop is how to handle foods and their environment, ways to purify water in the absence of a pump, and safe practices in the absence of a latrine.

Good changes have been noted starting right after the hygiene training workshop.

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
